Happy thanksgiving! this year has been amazing year, full of tribulations, trial and errors. But i got serious about my esty page. Then my only child noah started public school in pasadena. I was very nervous about it, but he has an amazing teacher, and some great kids. Thank you Ms Dickerson.

Also a sad note, i lost a friend of mine to cancer last week. She was beautiful, amazing, vibrant, a renaissance woman and so young. Marjan, may you rest in peace.

I am so exicted

Yesterday, saturday november 13th, for the first time ever, one of my treasury was on the front page of Etsy.  I try so hard to make these treasuries look great just hoping for people to click on them and leave a comment.  I never thought that one of mine will be on the front page.  I am so so excited that some etsians featured got a sale too.

volunteering at my son's kindergarten class.

hello
it has been a while since i wrote anything.  Well here i am.  My 5 year old son just started kindergarten at a public school in pasadena ca.  Today i went to volunteer for the day.  I was very happy to be with my son in the class and see how his day goes.  He is very proud of the fact that i am there helping the teacher and other kids that might need help.  It is very challenging right now in pasadena. With budget cuts and increased class sizes, the teachers have a lot of things to deal with.  Teachers are really special people, especially kindergarten teachers, who right now have no help, but parents who volunteer.
The kids are really cute, funny, and have lots of energy! my god!.  i am wiped out when i come home....
Congrats to ms dickerson, she is great!

4th of july weekend

Ok if you live in the los angeles area , you must have heard about the truck food craziness.  Friday night,my friend suggested that we should meet at abbot kinney for the once a month gathering of truck food mania.  So my little family ventured to venice ca, more precisely abbot Kinney.  A very cute little street with lots of shops and great restaurants.  My friend did say that it would be crowded.  As we where trying to get into the city of venice, ca, we realized that crowded was an understatement.  We were crawling on the street.  After a few detours we finally make it to abbot Kinney and realized how insane it was when i found a parking spot and someone told me i was very lucky!. wow , this is going to be pretty interesting and crazy.

We walk down the street, and at 5:30 in the afternoon on a small parking lot, are 7-8 food trucks, people are lined up, waiting for food. what!!!the truck had not opened yet.  As i am standing there trying to take this in, i am thinking this is why i live here.  These trends start here, this is pretty cool.  So you wait in line with 30-40 people, the truck is not opened, i don't even know what they serve.  But guess what i am going to stand in line too just to see what this is all about.  yes me too, i did it. The Goji korean food truck.  So at 5:30 in the afternoon, 30 people in line, and people kept coming and coming and just piling on.  Young ones, old ones, tourists, little kids too.  I had mine with me, who enjoyed the experience so much.   Did i like the food? Yes i did, i ate from Goji, border grill, a vegetarian indian truck, my son and husband ate from the cheese truck and liked it.
Outside the parking lot, abbot kinney was so busy that we could not walk on the sidewalk.  At 9pm when we left, someone took my parking spot, the party i guess was not over yet!

Ok so would i do it again and why are people so enthused about this?
yes i would do it again. I have a small child, which makes it really convenient and fast. We don't eat fast food so this is my fast food  i guess.  And i loved being part of it.

Why are people so into the food trucks.  Are they turning their  back on traditional fast food, or is this just a way to bring people together around food without being at a restaurant?  Or you can eat really good food at a small price?  i am not sure, it might be a combination of all these things.

i cannot wait to go back!

soccer fever

I grew up in Morocco, and soccer or football as we call it outside of the US is the only game in town.  It is a national sport, kids are so into it that any round thing becomes a soccer  ball.
 I am from of a family of 5 kids, all girls except my older brother.  Soccer was not so big in our house, but living in morocco you cannot escape it.
Especially when you have one television set and the only channel available has soccer on.  So what does a girl do, watch soccer.  Yes we did, and really got into it.  The most amazing recollection was when a major game was on, i would go outside my window to look at the city outside, and it will all be quiet. No noise, no cars, no motorcycles.   We all shared the soccer fever.  The thought that almost everyone was doing the same thing at the same time was amazing.   We were all watching the soccer game.

As the world cup starts today, i will sit back and reminisce when i was a little girl, when Casablanca came at a stand still and how great it was to be part of it.

Hello again!

So after some trials and errors here i am with a new page, new look, new blog.  I never thought that when i left morocco 20 years ago, that at some point in my life i would be blogging.  I don't think that word ever existed back then. But here i am blogging about my life, jewelry, designs, my son, our vegetable garden and before i forget, the new garden resident, my gopher.  He is now part of the family since he is using my vegetable garden as his dinner mostly.
I bet you can't feel the frustration, i guess just trying to be more zen about it.  Taking deep breaths.... which makes me thing i should write something about summer and jewelry.

Earrings, love them, own many pairs. But i am not the kind of girl who changes them all the time.  And if you are like me i have the perfect pair for you.  Who has the time anyway, kids, garden, house, cooking , chauffeuring, social coordinator for my 5 year old and husband...who has the time.  so follow me and i will show you.
